TPM Workshop | Encapsulation with natural materials

Natural materials and biopolymers are currently gaining importance in many areas. In some application fields of microcapsules (cleaning, cosmetic and agriculture), this trend is even more pronounced due to the restriction of the intentionally added microplastic. New materials and material combinations as well as suitable processes leading to the microcapsules with high biodegradability rate, good barrier properties and low cost are of very high relevance now. In order to be useful for microencapsulation, starting materials have to possess good solubility and/or dispersibility in an aqueous medium, yet at the end of the process, they have to assemble into water-insoluble barrier films enclosing droplets or particles of the encapsulated material.
